Baulkham Hills Dental Implants
Dental implants replace a lost or severely damaged tooth.
An implant consists of two parts. A titanium post and a porcelain tooth.
The titanium post is embedded in the jaw, where it bonds to the bone in a process called Osseointegration. Titanium is the only metal that has this bonding property. Titanium is also impervious to corrosion in these conditions.
The outer porcelain tooth is affixed to the titanium metal post. This porcelain tooth will look and function virtually as well as a natural tooth. It can be matched to the colour and shape of the surrounding teeth.

It is unfortunate to lose a tooth. But a lost tooth can be replaced with an implant.
Dental implants will require two or more dental visits. The metal post will be attached during the first appointment. Once this post had correctly bonded to the jawbone the outer porcelain tooth will be put in place.
A dental implant will only require the same maintenance as regular teeth – diligent daily brushing, flossing, and mouthwash. While an implant itself will not decay the surrounding gum must be looked after lest it suffers an infection. A severe gum infection can lead to tooth and bone loss.
Some damaged teeth can be repaired with veneers or root canal work. Other damaged teeth require an implant.
